About ContentDown
A public-media toolkit built around clear boundaries.
ContentDown began with a simple problem—public social posts often contain useful media, but saving the actual file can be inconsistent across platforms and devices. The project now combines three available downloaders, browser media tools and maintained technical guides.
Why it exists
ContentDown is designed to make supported public media easier to retrieve and understand without asking users for social-platform passwords. Instagram, TikTok and X each expose media differently, so the live integrations are purpose-built rather than routed through one generic scraper.
What we maintain
The public website documents supported link formats, media types, known limitations and troubleshooting alongside the download tools. We also publish first-party guides drawn from the practical work of handling media formats, multiple renditions, galleries, animated media and browser downloads.
Our product principles
Public media only. ContentDown is not designed to bypass private-account permissions. Real capabilities only. Unsupported behaviour is documented instead of represented by fake download controls. Responsible use. Public availability does not make third-party work copyright-free.
How the service evolves
Social platforms change. ContentDown's integrations and documentation are therefore maintained together: when a capability or limitation changes, the public guidance should change with it. The current site content was reviewed on 28 September 2026.
Independence
ContentDown is an independent utility and is not affiliated with Instagram, Meta, TikTok, X, Reddit or their parent companies. Platform names are used to describe compatibility.
